Worth the Wait | Tracy and Patrick Wedding in Kaneohe Oahu

Dean Martin once sang, “Your love made it all worth waiting for some like you” and I think this beautiful lyrics perfectly describes Patrick and Tracy. We met via email and got to know each other initially through phone chats, and they explained that they were coming in from the great Gem State of Idaho.  They were coming for an intimate wedding with just the two of them.

When Tracy first met Patrick two years ago, she admits she was a bit shy at the idea of falling in love again.  Both Patrick and Tracy had kids who were now full grown.  One of the things she remembered was when she first told Patrick she was recently divorced, he said “What fool let you go?”  He invited her to dinner and that one dinner was all that was needed.  They had so much fun and talked about everything.  It was uncanny how much they had in common.  Growing up in Idaho, they’re both very outdoorsy and love hiking and fishing.  But they also complement each other.  She loves to tease him and make him laugh while he loves to spoil her with daily back rubs.  Oh, Tracy, that’s a winner right there!

When Patrick proposed, he said “let’s get married in Hawaii!”  And Pastor JD of Calvary Chapel in Kaneohe used to be their pastor in Idaho before he moved to Hawaii.  He had baptized Tracy in Idaho years ago and now he was officiating their wedding in Hawaii.  They got married in a small ceremony in the church that was a surprisingly familiar sight to them as they had seen it many times watching Pastor JD’s sermons online.  They extended their photography hours so we could take advantage of the cooler temperatures and gorgeous golden light of the late afternoon.  Plus, it gave them time to relax and chat with Pastor JD before we headed over to Kualoa Beach Park for couples photos on the beach.

They planned their Hawaiian elopement beautifully.  They stayed at the Paradise Bay Resort in Kaneohe, just across the small bay from their wedding ceremony.  The caring staff at Paradise Bay helped Tracy pick her own flowers from around the grounds which she used to make her own tropical bouquet.  And we drove just a little farther north to the beautiful Kualoa Beach Park.  It had been such a rainy month and we hadn’t had much sunlight on the windward side in what seemed like forever.  But just as we got to the beach park, these stunning rays of vibrant sunlight skimmed over the tips of the Koolau mountains.  It was a gorgeous backdrop for Hawaiian wedding photos.
