Sachie - I love the colors. very vivid. How do you get the background like that?
admin - Hi Sachie!!! I answered your question on facebook also but here’s a basic recap. You get a nice blurry background by having a shallow depth of field. The key way is to have a large aperture (or small F-stop number). Find the “A” mode on your camera and wheel the aperture to the smaller F-stop nubers. This one I probably had the F-stop around F2.8-F4.0 (I’m guessing…I’d have to look at my EXIF data). Really good lens have larger aperture capabilities (smaller F-stop numbers). I think my stock lens can’t get less than F5.
I also zoom in, a longer focal lens helps shallow the depth of field. And position wise, I got close to HB and the background was far away. Practice it!!! A blurred background makes HB the focus and it also just makes for a beautiful backdrop.
