Lisa - Okay, we have GOT to get together sometime soon- we have too much in common!! I have a degree in Bio (though sadly, 10+ years and 2 kids later, I’ll give you a blank look if you ask me about the Krebs cycle), and I nearly set our house on fire in the EXACT SAME WAY.
T was 5 months, I forgot I was boiling eggs, and we went into town.. they had to break in to turn off the stove and there was no trace of egg, just a completely ruined pot and two super freaked out cats and a smell like burnt rotten egg tires. It took 3 days to air out completely, with everything open and fans everywhere. It was AWFUL. But again, thank goodness, no one was hurt and the worst of it was the smell and the ruined pan.
keao - ha ha lisa…sorry, I don’t mean to laugh at your tragedy either. I don’t think we should feel badly…apparently this a quite common mishap. My dad (who is on the Big Island) said my brother did the same thing with eggs a year ago. Apparently they do explode.
